Shoutouts: @Shayna who won the first prize package of the new show. I put together a few bits and bobs from past trips, including the one to the UK I just got back from and since she is here in Boise, I was able to
give her the prizes over lunch. Now, next time I have a contest or giveaway, enter! It'll be easy, and you
never know what you'll get for sending an email or commenting on the show notes.

A lot has gone on in my life, births, death, family moves...

During my first trip down, I had a chance to hop over to Yorba Linda California to the Richard M Nixon

Library and Birthplace.

I took video of each part of the Library and it's up on the feed. In fact, this video as of the first of July
has had more downloads/visits than any other episode. Thank you.

The good news is, my granddaugher Amelia Rose arrived on May 14!! She is beautiful, of course, and I'm a very happy grandmother that she and my son and daughterinlaw moved back to Boise from Colorado Springs. If you've been listening to the news this week, you'll know that most of the western states in the US are having a terrible time with wild fires, and Colorado Springs, home of the US Air Force Academy has been one of the hardest areas hit. They have had over 300 homes destroyed and 20, 000 acres burned. And it's not over yet.

This is a very dry summer, and very hot. Keep all those in danger in your thoughts.

October Trip Clue:

1. I'm going to a city I've never been to before.
2. It's in the United States.

Countries which have had downloads:

USA
Viet Nam
China
Saudi Arabia
United Kingdom
Australia
Canada

I do have an address if you would like to trade postcards.

Last Officer from the 28th Maori Battalion died last week. John Hone Hikitia Te Rangi Waititi, a member of
the 28th (Māori) Battalion passed away on Monday 25 June 2012, at the age of 91.

The 28th (Māori) Battalion, more commonly known as the Māori Battalion, was an infantry battalion of the New Zealand Army that served during the Second World War. It was formed following pressure on the Labour government by some Māori Members of Parliament (MPs) and Māori organisations throughout the country which wanted a full Māori unit to be raised for service overseas. The Māori Battalion followed in the footsteps of the Māori Pioneer Battalion that served during the First World War with success, and was wanted by Māori to raise their profile, and to serve alongside their Pākehā compatriots as citizens of the British Empire. It also gave a generation of people with a well-noted military ancestry a chance to test their own warrior skills. {Wikipedia}
